STEMTERNSHIP DETAILS

Fall STEMternship

  • All applicants aged 16 and older are encouraged to apply

  • Receive virtual electric aircraft and sustainable aviation short courses from the University of Southern California Professor

  • Optional travel to KOCW to learn about exciting initiatives in aerospace and sustainability*

  • Occupy a booth at the 2023 Fall Decarbonization Expo as part of a larger Event*

  • Explore sustainable energy technologies at the event

  • Interview with hiring companies interested and organizations affiliated with AIAA

  • Present what you learn in a virtual presentation to Semper Sky Staff and Xelevate

  • Explore companies and organizations interested in future event collaboration

  • Present each potential technology to all future event stakeholders

  • Communicate the needs of enrolled companies and organizations to all stakeholders

  • Record a summary of what you have learned for submission to Semper Sky

SEMPER STEM

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Programs are intended for US residents ages 16+

*Applicants requesting travel/per diem reimbursement must meet application criteria outlined by the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation https://www.mcsf.org/apply/eligibility/

**All other unpaid internship applicants

  • Members of underserved communities

  • Strong desire to learn more about STEM

  • Soft skills outlined in https://www.hays.com.au/career-advice/upskilling/soft-skills

  • The seven soft skills that are commonly requested by employers are: teamwork, problem solving, communication, adaptability, critical thinking, time management and interpersonal.

  • 3-5 Minute video about sustainable energy in aerospace for Semper Sky and MCSF

  • Ability to travel to mentor organization

*Travel funds subject to MCSF availability

**Non-MCSF travel funds subject to sponsor approval

You are able to actively listen to, and understand other perspectives, while also being able to share your own effectively. You are skilled at verbal and written communication, while you also understand non-verbal communication cues.

Make sure to completely understand an impending change and keep an open mind. You look for opportunities in the change and plan the practical actions needed to adopt or perform differently as a result of the change. You are able to focus on the positives and you’re not afraid to step outside of your comfort zone to establish a new routine.
